I've been using ProgeCAD since release 2014 together with AutoCAD Building Design Suite 2013. ProgeCAD 2014 I found to be a great alternative to AutoCAD as it was a near seamless transition, It did have some drawbacks, one being that it did not have a 'Deselect All' command on the right click menu. I highlighted this to ProgeCAD support who I found to be very helpful in responding\resolving any issues I encountered.
I upgraded from 2014 to 2016 and purchased a Network Licence allowing me to work at home and in the office without having to migrate licences.
I have now upgraded again to ProgeCAD 2022 and the improvements in this version are noticeable, the addition of creating your own workspaces is a welcome feature along with the new Ribbon Toolbar, you now also have the ability to 'Deselect All' from the right click menu too. It's also great to see that it is still compliant with SCR files and VBA, long may that continue. There is also a noticeable difference in performance, it's a lot smoother in operation and I'd say in this regard it is now equal to AutoCAD. The addition of the new Artisan Renderer gives easy exceptional renders though, the legacy renderer is still provided as standard. Out of the box you are provided with a number of block libraries, steel and timber sections, I would like to see this expanded to be more country specific regards the steel sections as I don't recognise the codes attributed.
Documentation has improved which I find is now more helpful to my workflow.
Lastly, Axonware, the UK Reseller of ProgeCAD, I have always found Dan and Julie to be extremely helpful in the services they provide whenever called upon.
I no longer use AutoCAD, good as it is, ProgeCAD 2022 at a fraction of the cost for a perpetual licence is every bit as good, if not better for both my 2D and 3D purposes and FWIW I have absolutely no affiliation with any of the companies I've mentioned in this review.
